Short Project Description (150 words): The Philadelphia Migration Project studies migration to Philadelphia since World War II. Located at the University of Pennsylvania, the project’s participants include faculty and graduate students from History, Sociology, Demography, Urban Studies, City and Regional Planning, Law, and Education. The project’s goals are (1) to provide the public, planners, and policymakers with objective data on immigration to the region and (2) to advance scholarship on a number of issues, including immigrant suburbanization, immigrant-African American relations, ethnic community development, and relations among immigration, race, and urban inequality.
